Many believe Monaco '84 should have been Senna's first Grand Prix win
but when the race was red flagged Bellof was catching him...

This is just before the start...Ascari in his red Lancia managed to split the dominant Mercedes' of Fangio and Moss during practise...
Lap one and somehow Castellotti got up to second in the other Lancia, but soon Moss would take second place and the two Mercedes' led the race easily.Ferrari was nowhere to be seen...
Ascari in his Lancia pasing the pits. The two Mercedes' were not as reliable as they were fast, first Fangio then Moss would retire with mechanical problems.Just as Ascari would take over the lead he crashed into the Monaco harbour,a spectacular accident which he survived, only to be killed in a testing accident a few days later...
After the Merceds' and Lancias were out of the way,the road was clear for local hero Maurice Trintignant in his Ferrari to take a fortunate but popular win. sold

Phillipe Massa won the Turkish Grand Prix and is back in the title hunt.
Sounds familiar? he did the same in 2007 and 2006.
Sounds boring? luckily Hamilton and Mclaren spiced things up (a bit)
Zolder '82

26 years ago this week in May...we lost Gilles Villeneuve.
I was at Zolder that fateful weekend in '82,taking pictures of Didier Pironi in the pits,
suddenly everything stopped, people walking around with shell shocked eyes.
The truck coming back with the wreck of the Ferrari nr 27.
What i remember most was that Saturday evening,it was very quiet all around the track, spectators not knowing what to do but wander around in silence,
nobody could believe Gilles Villeneuve had gone, just like that...
here he is in happier times winning the 1981 Monaco Grand Prix
